ARCHERY - CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING - PETANGUE
Join us in our family fun on the farm grounds. No experience required, just forget your inhibitions.

CANOEING / RAFTING / SHOOTING THE RAPIDS
For all ages, no experience required, no special equipment, just a love for horseplay and getting wet! Get ready for the 12-km fun. Rafting is our personal favourite! The views are magnificent, the river a sheer joy, the feeling utter exhilaration and the guides that take you down the river a fun-loving, capable team of bronzed young men!

HORSE RIDING
Come and explore the kaleidoscope of landscapes by following the trail of the legendary stones of the Monts de Blond through the Monts d’Aubazac, where the wooded hills lead to hidden valleys. A great number of riding schools is on offer, with paths through woods and fields. You may be a beginner, where instruction is adapted to the desires and level of each individual (from age 5) or you can perfect your skill. All equestrian farms less than an hour’s drive from Lys d’avril and the closest is a 10-minute drive.

FUN PARKS
Whether adventure parks, nature parks, aquariums,”Tarzan” games, the “City of Insects” or zoological parks, they’re there for exploration.

KARTING
Covered circuit, Chrono type F1, karts of 200 cc, 5 minutes from the centre of Limoges.

BEACHES , LAKES & RIVERS
The Limousin is not named “The Land of a Thousand Lakes” for nothing! At almost every twist of the road you are sure to discover one. The river Petit Briance runs within a 5-minute walking distance from the farm and it just cannot be resisted for a sunny picnic. Amongst the numerous “Plan d’eau” (man-made lake with a sandy beach especially suitable for swimming) there is one at 10 minutes’ drive from the farmhouse. Then, the famous Lac Vassiviere is a 30-minute drive and its size and beauty makes for an unforgettable day, with all the watersports, swimming & fishing you can manage. The lake’s island with its sculpture park and the Centre of Contemporary Art, its café and its art museum simply must not be missed. As for canoeing, kayaking, rafting, water polo, water skiing, the impressive beautiful river Vienne is a dream come true.

Serious Enthusiasts

GOLF
18-hole courses. 10 courses within driving distance, shared between the Haute Vienne, Correze and Creuse. Hire of clubs, buggies and carts. Golf courses in the area are set in stunning scenery. The one closest to us is a 15-minute drive. We’ll be happy to make enquiries for you as to opening times and fees.

FISHING
With more than 2,242 kms of fishing sites there’s an abundance of fishing to be done in a “Land of a Thousand Lakes” (and rivers and streams). The nearest site to us is a 2-minute drive, on the Briance river, in an idyllic setting of a water mill. Please contact the Conseil Supérieur de la Pêche or the Tourism Office in Saint-Germain-Les-Belles for information on day permits and seasonal fish.

WATER SKIING
Classic skiing, mini-slalom, slalom, baby ski, wakeboard, jumps, levels for beginners and competitions.

HIKING
There are innumerable trails to follow (one actually runs outside our front door), many around the lakes and in the nature reserve parks. We especially recommend the Lake Vassiviere trails which are over 300 km long. Please ask us for walking maps for consulting.

CYCLING
This is the land of Tour de France AND the Tour de Limousin! Scenic cycling routes through woods and around lakes as well as races you can compete in.

Dedicated Browsing!

Limoges, Brive and Tulle offer as much window shopping and browsing as you can handle, from Fashion to Porcelain Museums and Porcelain Factory Outlets, not to forget the hundreds of chocolateries and patisseries. People watchers and café dwellers won’t be disappointed and the trés chic Rue de Bucherie in Limoges hides antique shops and little restaurants for you to discover.
We’ll be more than happy to chat with you about other points of interest, such as Food Markets where to mingle with the French, chatting and buying their fresh fruit and cheese, Open Farms to explore, Brocantes to hunt for antiques, Porcelain museums, Distillery museums, Art museums, and the list goes on.

Property Hunting

If you are on a property hunt, that happiest and most gruelling of exercises, we’re here to share our knowledge with you, help you if you seek direction with the region, put you in touch with estate agents, or simply lend an ear to run thoughts by. The good news is that Lys d’avril is perfectly located to be used as a base for exploration of the Limousin, Lot and Upper Dordogne. And isn’t it good to relax at the end of a day of hunting with a drink, good food and people who have shared the same experience?
