Your hosts are Geoff and Lillian Makin and we fulfilled our dream of leaving behind a busy life running our own Interior Design & Build company in England, in exchange for a life in the countryside in a region that we love.
The area has been related to hold the charm of the Cotswalds and the beauty of the Lake District. We fell in love with it and with our property literally at first sight.
Creating our guest farmhouse has been a labour of immense enthusiasm, with one guiding thought: “What will make guests feel most comfortable, most at home”.
Each stone was sandblasted and each roof beam was exposed with tender loving care and a clear vision of what we wanted to create.
Both of us being experienced travellers and demanding guests of the hospitality industry, we wanted this hideaway to be everything that would delight holiday makers and travellers in terms of surroundings, ambience and service.
The result is a combination of Lillian’s love for elegance and Geoff’s passion for order and logistics that work towards a truly relaxing leave-everything-behind stay.
What we both love most is entertaining and sharing our enchanting corner of the world with our guests. We will do our utmost to ensure you leave our home delighted and we are more than willing to hear what will make your stay even better.
The name “Lys d’avril” translates as “April lily”. April, apart from being the month of the birth of spring, is special to us as it is when this hidden gem became ours. The flower lily is a symbol of purity and beauty and we feel it perfectly represents the beauty and purity of this magnificent region.
